CIA Tapes

The CIA admits that in 2005 it destroyed two tapes documenting the interrogation of prisoners, including suspected al-Qaida leader Abu Zubaydah. The New York Times reports that part of the reason they were destroyed was that “officers were concerned that tapes documenting controversial interrogation methods could expose agency officials to greater risk of legal jeopardy.”⁴²
