Court Forces Release of Tapes

The Supreme Court rules that President Nixon cannot use executive privilege to refuse to give the special prosecutor copies of the taped discussions that took place in the White House.³² Nixon is compelled to hand over the tapes, including the June 23, 1972, “smoking gun tape.”
